Moving from SimpleMind

Thoughtline opens SimpleMind's own file format, .smmx, for free. Your topics, notes and the positions you gave them come across, and the import preview shows you what did not before anything is saved.

How to move a map

1. In SimpleMind, save or share the map as a SimpleMind file — the one ending in .smmx.
2. Put it somewhere your phone can reach: Files, Google Drive, iCloud Drive, email to yourself.
3. In Thoughtline, open My Maps → ⋮ → Import a file and pick it.
4. Check the preview — it counts the topics and levels, and lists anything left behind — then tap Import.

What comes across

• Every topic and the structure between them
• Notes on topics
• Where you placed each topic — the map opens as a free-form map, laid out as you left it
• Folded (collapsed) branches

What does not, yet

• Crosslinks (relations) between topics
• Icons, images and styles

Thoughtline has its own 120 free icons and 12 themes, and crosslinks are part of Thoughtline Pro, so a map can get all of that back — it just does not carry over automatically.

What is different

• You build maps by typing. Each line is a topic; one tap nests it. The canvas and the outline are the same map.
• Notes, search, folders and PDF export are free.
• Pro is one payment for every device on your account in that store — not a subscription.
• No account and no cloud. Maps stay on your device; one tap backs them all up to a file.
